| | Central Region Program Report August 3, 2009 | | Dear Friends, The coaches conference went very well this past weekend. We had a good turn out so thank you to everyone who came. I want to send out a special thank you to Delynn Ortin and Mark McKeon. We appreciate your dedication to the organization. August 17th we have been asked by the New York Jets to come watch them train and then have a meet and greet afterwards. They have given us a certain amount of tickets for the event so please call the office to reserve tickets. It is a first come first serve basis. You can reach me at mquinn@nyso.org or you can call the office at 473-2933. If you have any questions please let me know. Last Monday, Lani Seifert and her grand-daughter Nicole Clapper stopped by the office to drop off a check that was donated by Lani's company. She told us about a program called "Volunteerism Always Pays." Basically her company donated $250 to the organization of her choice for volunteering for 25 hours or more. She can qualify for this twice a year. All she had to do was fill out a sheet and have us sign off on it proving that she volunteered for a certain amount of hours. I thought I would share this with everyone because it is a great program and some companies have the same program but do not advertise it as much. When you get a chance check with your company to see if they have a similar program so you could possibly help out your local Special Olympics training clubs. (On the Left, Steve Fuller, VP of Program, Nicole Clapper and then Lani Seifert on the far Right. Add "Support Special Olympics" to Your Summer Grocery List" Special Olympics New York Central Region is part of an exciting promotion with Village Market IGA and Bosco & Geers Market stores across the Oswego area, DiOrio's IGA in Old Forge and Chanatry's on French Road in Utica. Visit your neighborhood store through August 22nd and make a donation at checkout. Proceeds will support the Law Enforcement Torch run for Special Olympics in our local community, which will allow us to provide greater services and programs for our athletes and help us reach the other intellectually disabled children and adults in Central New York to bring them into the Special Olympics Family. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me, thank you. | |
