| | Central Region Program Report September 2, 2009 | | Dear Friends, We have a lot going on in the Central Region this coming month. We have our Super Regional Bocce Event Next weekend along with our Super Regional Equestrian event. The Following weekend is our Upstate Fall Classic where our Soccer and Softball teams will be competing along with our skills athletes. There are also some Fundraisers that will be taking place. This weekend we have a tent event at the Bass Pro Shops in Auburn. Bass Pro Shops will be doing a hang tag campaign to benefit Special Olympics. Their campaign will last this weekend till the beginning of October. This weekend they will be serving hot dogs and there will be games for kids to play. All athletes are welcome and don't forget to wear your medals!! If you have any questions please let me know. Also the LETR will be hosting the Applebees Fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics October 29th and they are looking for athletes to come and help them out and show support at the different Applebees locations. The locations are Clay, Dewitt, North Syracuse, Camillus and Auburn. We hope that you will join us for a fun night. If you are interested in helping out or if you know of an athlete that would like to attend please let Kim Smith know. You can reach her at ksmith@nyso.org. Since the passing of Eunice Kennedy Shriver we have been receiving calls about where a sympathy card can be sent. If you would like to send a card to the family you can mail them to the office and we will be more than happy to forward them for you. Thank you so much for the condolences, she was an amazing woman. This past Friday Matt Mulcahy from Action News 3 wrote a blog on his website about two familiar faces from the Central Region. Steven and Randy St. John met Matt Mulcahy at the State Fair and made an impact on him. You can read about his encounter through this website: http://www.mattsmemo.com/2009/08/new-fair-friends.html Look at those smiles, how could you not resist taking a picture. Good Job Boys! Coaches don't forget to check out the coaches corner and get those registrations and rosters in! Have a great Labor Day weekend everyone, make sure to get some good barbecuing in before it turns cold! | |
