| | Central Region Program Report October 28, 2009 | We unfortunately received the news that one of our athletes passed away this weekend. Amy McDonald was full of spirit, life and had a great attitude. She participated in a variety of sports including Bocce, Snowshoeing, Bowling and Track and Field. She resided in the North Syracuse area. There will be services for her today at St. Rose de Lima in North Syracuse from 4-7, if you would like to pay your respects the address is 411 South main St. She will be greatly missed.  | STILL LOOKING FOR SOME BOWLING TEAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have some events coming up soon, but our big fundraiser event is coming up November 8th. We are hosting a Bowl-a-thon November 8th at Strike and Spare lanes in Mattydale from 1-4pm. You can have to 6 people on your team and each lane is $250, that is less than $50 for everyone on the team to fundraise. There will be prizes for the highest fundraisers, including a $500 gift card to Wal-mart for the top fundraiser! There will also be t-shirts given out to those who individually raise $100. Peter's Ice Angels is going to start practicing and they are looking for skaters to participate practices will be Sundays 4-5 pm, where you will learn to skate and be competitive Special Olympic athletes. It will be held at the Skaneateles Community Center, here are the dates: November 1,8,15,22,29 December-13,20,27 January 3,10,17,24,31 February 7,14 at 4:30 pm,21 Want to join? | | Upcoming Events October 31st there will be a local bowling event held in Copper City at King Pin Lanes in Rome. We will also be holding a bowling tournament at Starlight Lanes in Auburn. NOVEMBER November 8th we will be holding a Bowl-a-thon to support Special Olympics Central Region. It will be held at Strike and Spare lanes in Mattydale and registration will be held at 12:30. We will be holding our winter coaches conference November 7th at Syracuse University in Gym B in the Women's Building. We will be offering floor hockey as our sports specific training. You can register online at www.nyso.org and then go to central region. The link should be on the right. If you have questions about your certification please email me and I will let you know where you stand. The conference starts at 9 and registration will be at 8:45. If you plan on coming please show up before nine because we will be starting right at nine due to time restrictions. We hope to see you there! ALL COACHES - If you have not done so already please send your rosters into me. We utilize rosters for many reasons such as keeping track of all of our athletes and what they are training in, medical information (if they are going to expire) and once they are entered into the system we are able to use the information to apply for grants, etc. They are very important so please turn them in as soon as possible.
